Optimizing routing and delivery patterns with multi-compartment vehicles

چکیده
Retailers usually apply repetitive weekly delivery patterns when scheduling the workforce for shelf replenishment, defining cyclic transportation routes and managing warehouse capacities. In doing so, all logistics subsystems are jointly scheduled. Grocery products require different temperature zones. As long as transport was in separated vehicles due to requirements, it not possible coordinate deliveries across The recent introduction of multi-compartment trucks has changed this allows joint deliveries. This simultaneous multiple product segments impacts as, example, low volume can be delivered more frequently if they transported together with high segments. We address problem vehicles. After deriving decision-relevant costs, we propose a novel model that defines Periodic Multi-Compartment Vehicle Routing Problem. is solved by an integrated framework determines within Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search combination solving routing problem. analyze impact selecting show efficiency our planning approach using numerical studies. The multi-compartment vehicle routing problem with flexible compartment sizes
In this paper, a capacitated vehicle routing problem is discussed which occurs in the context of glass waste collection. Supplies of several different product types (glass of different colors) are available at customer locations. The supplies have to be picked up at their locations and moved to a central depot at minimum cost. Different product types may be transported on the same vehicle, howe...
متن کاملMulti-objective routing and scheduling for relief distribution with split delivery in post-disaster response
Following the occurrence of unexpected events and natural disasters, a highly important relief operation is the transferring of relief commodities from the distribution centers (CDs) to shelters. In this paper, a three-level network consisting of depot of vehicles, distribution centers and shelters has been considered for routing and scheduling of relief vehicles through introducing a multi-obj...
متن کاملOptimizing Delivery Time in Multi-Objective Vehicle Routing Problems with Time Windows
The Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows involves finding the lowest-cost set of routes to deliver goods to customers, which have service time windows, using a homogeneous fleet of vehicles with limited capacity. In this paper, we propose and analyze the performance of an improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm, that simultaneously minimizes the number of routes, the total travel d...
متن کاملSolving a multi-depot location-routing problem with heterogeneous vehicles and fuzzy travel times by a meta-heuristic algorithm
A capacitated location-routing problem (CLRP) is one of the new areas of research in distribution management. It consists of two problems; locating of facilities and routing of the vehicle with a specific capacity. The purpose of the CLRP is to open a set of stores, allocate customers to established deposits, and then design vehicle tours in order to minimize the total cost. In this paper, a ne...
متن کاملAlgorithms for Multi-Compartment Delivery Problems
The distribution of products using compartmentalized vehicles involves many decisions such as the allocation of products to vehicle compartments, vehicle routing and inventory control. These decisions often span several periods, yielding a difficult optimization problem. In this paper we define and compare four main categories of the Multi-Compartment Delivery Problem (MCDP). We propose two mix...
